Updated Website

Hello everyone,

Well I have just updated my website to include more bells and whistles – and of course challenges whilst building it. I used Dreamweaver and GoLive. I’ve installed a flash file on the index page, however, if your computer is not set to receive flash don’t panic, I’ve put one image from my portfolio behind it so you should still be able to see something. I’ve tested and re-tested the javascript on the portfolio and the sketchpad page and it seems to be working Ok – sometimes I have found for some strange reason when I create pages with javascript in GoLive the script links to javascript created in my Mac’s Hard Drive instead of the created items folder in the website folder, so it’s something I’m always looking out for now.

I’ve also embedded a contact me form in the contact page and though I had a go at creating a form I found this was such a handy way to create it and add a captcha I decided to go with this. Again, it’s using java script, so if you don’t have java installed you’ll find you can still contact me through my email address…. if you find it isn’t working on your browser let me know and I’ll see if there is anything I can do at my end, however some of the features do require the newest browsers to view. It was good fun to work on…. quite a challenge. Here’s a link - http://www.jennifersillustrations.co.uk/ I’d better just test it on my blackberry – so far it’s working Ok on my Mac, firefox and safari and I also tested it on a PC but had to update the internet explorer to view it.

… Yes, it’s working on my blackberry, which is good, so I hope it’s OK for everyone out there. Jen :)

Portrait of Ian

Portrait of Ian, Watercolour, © Jennifer McLaughlin 2011 32.3cm x 50cm

…. it’s taken a long time to get a portrait of Ian sorted out. I was working on an Oil portrait of Ian a couple of years back but I was so busy studying I had to take a big break from the painting and when I got back to it it just didn’t feel right anymore, so I’ve been hoping to paint Ian for a long time.

This is a watercolour, it’s a painting of Ian on St.Annes Promenade. There are two directions of light in this one, the immediate, obvious sunshine and then there is the reflected blue light within the shadows, so it was a fun challenge.
